As someone who loves to make and eat sweets, I know the power of a well-placed cookie bribe for someone's trust. As I haphazardly stress-baked before our first STEM Girls meeting, I used that excuse to justify the dozens of cookies that poured from our oven like water beneath Noah's Ark. I made two types of cookies, relatively plain, with the two things I found lying around the house: Nutella and Maizena. For those who don't know, Nutella is a chocolate-hazelnut spread and Maizena is a popular brand of cornstarch. Nutella is a surprisingly useful baking ingredient (seriously, try it), and Maizena makes for a light, simple twist on the sugar cookie. The cookies were easy and fun to make, and they were a hit with the girls (thank god). Here are the STEM Girls Approved recipes:
